English Farmstead Cheese

Whey Good Cheese Blog

Whew! It is hard to believe over 3 months have passed since we opened the farm store and sold our first cheese. Overall, one word can pretty much sum up those first 3 months – busy, busy, busy. We’ve even joked that the store is more or less where we live now and the white house up the road is just where we go to rest periodically! In all honesty though, we are quite pleased with how things are going and wouldn’t have it any other way. We only hope you are enjoying our cheese as much as we enjoy making it for you.

English Farmstead Cheese-CheddarSpeaking of cheese, we are now offering our first cheddars! These have been aged for around 60 days and have a nice mild flavor. We named this mild cheddar “Ashford” after the name used by locals to describe the small community in which we are located. For those sharp cheddar lovers out there, some of our sharper cheddars should be available around Christmas.

In other recent happenings, we were thrilled to receive an invite from the NC Department of Agriculture’s Got To Be NC program to be part of the Grand Tasting at the Asheville Wine & Food Festival. The Grand Tasting is scheduled for this Saturday, August 24th. Additional details can be found at http://ashevillewineandfood.com/.  Be on the lookout for a blog post soon about our experiences at the festival. food and wine logo[1]
