We were delighted to offer our cheeses at the Grand Tasting of the 5th annual Asheville Wine & Food Festival last Saturday. There was an unbelievable variety of food and drink to sample, plus we met a lot of great people.
We were fortunate to be close to our friends at Foothills Pasture Raised Meats, Copper Pot and Wooden Spoon and South Creek Winery. After an early morning of setting up and getting our booth ready, it was nice to kick back and “talk shop” with some other local vendors. We even got to sample a few things before the crowds came in (our favorites were the country ham from WayCo Ham Company, the sweet potato vodka from Covington Vodka and the cheese from our fellow WNC Cheese Trail member Yellow Branch Cheese). And to be clear, sampling a bit of TOPO’s Carolina Whiskey doesn’t count as drinking on the job, right?
Once the doors opened to the public, however, there wasn’t much time to kick back as festival goers lined up to sample our cheeses. Overall, Buttercup was the resounding favorite, followed closely by our local blackberry cheese spread.
We would like to thank the Got To Be NC program for inviting us to represent NC agriculture at the festival, and look forward to attending next year. It was a great opportunity for our farm to gain some exposure and make wholesale contacts from across the state.
Stop by and see us at the farm store this Friday and Saturday from 10-6. Depending on availability, we may also be open on Monday. Check our website’s calendar, Facebook, or Twitter for updates on our hours.
